Privacy Policy

1. Introduction

Welcome to Color Season AI ("we," "our," or "us"). We operate the website colorseasonai.com and provide a free AI-powered seasonal color analysis service with an optional paid personalized digital handbook. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use our website, use the Color Season Checker Chrome extension, or make a purchase.

2. Information We Collect

We collect the following types of information:

  • Analytics Data: We use Google Analytics to collect anonymous usage data such as pages visited, time on site, browser type, and device information. This data is aggregated and cannot be used to identify you personally.
  • Uploaded Photos: When you use our AI color analysis feature, you may upload a selfie. The photo is sent securely to Cloudflare Workers AI for real-time analysis to determine your seasonal color palette. If you are not signed in, the photo itself is not saved. If you are signed in, a reduced-size copy (about 600 px) is saved to your Style Profile so that later features — comparing candidate seasons on your own photo, draping, your analysis history — can use it; see section 7b for retention and deletion. If you answer the questions shown around the analysis (makeup in the photo, dyed hair), those answers are stored with the result. The separate AI Stylist chat has its own photo rules, described in section 7a below.
  • Assistant Questions: When you ask our signed-in color assistant a question, we retain a redacted copy to improve the assistant and identify content gaps. We remove obvious contact details, IP addresses, account handles, identifiers, links, and long number strings before storage, and the question log is not linked to your account or user ID. If a safety check blocks a question, we record only the moderation outcome and do not retain the question text.
  • Security and Usage Events: We retain short-lived pseudonymous records of assistant and photo-analysis attempts to enforce daily limits, prevent abuse, and keep the service reliable. These records can include an account ID for signed-in users, an anonymous cookie hash for signed-out users, and a keyed IP hash that changes each day.
  • Purchase and Delivery Data: If you buy a handbook, we receive and store the purchase email, our order and checkout identifiers, product and amount, payment status, purchase or refund timestamps, and the handbook snapshot needed to deliver what you bought. CREEM processes the checkout and payment details. Color Season AI does not receive or store your full card number.
  • Cookies: We use essential cookies and third-party cookies from Google Analytics and Google AdSense to understand site usage and display relevant advertisements.

3. How We Use Information

  • To provide and improve our seasonal color analysis service
  • To understand how visitors interact with our website through analytics
  • To display relevant advertisements through Google AdSense
  • To email you: sign-in links you request, essential account notices, and — unless you opt out — occasional product updates and styling tips. Every non-essential email carries a one-click unsubscribe link, and opting out never affects your access to the site.
  • To create, deliver, and support a purchased handbook; send its receipt; and process refunds
  • To keep an order audit trail, prevent duplicate delivery, and respond to payment disputes

4. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services:

  • Google Analytics: For website traffic analysis. Google Privacy Policy
  • Google AdSense: For displaying advertisements. As a third-party vendor, Google uses cookies, web beacons (clear pixels), and similar technologies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this or other websites, and may collect your IP address and device identifiers for this purpose. Google's use of advertising cookies (including the DoubleClick cookie) enables it and its partners to serve ads based on your visits to this and other sites. You can learn more in How Google uses information from sites that use its services.
  • Resend: For delivering our emails (sign-in links, account notices and product updates). Your email address is shared with Resend solely to deliver these messages. Resend Privacy Policy
  • CREEM: For hosted checkout, payment processing, tax handling, receipts, and refunds for the personalized handbook. CREEM receives the information you enter at checkout and shares the order status and delivery email needed to fulfill the purchase. CREEM Privacy Notice
  • AI Processing: Photos submitted for color analysis are sent to Cloudflare Workers AI for color season analysis. Color assistant questions are sent to Cloudflare Workers AI to generate an answer; their chat scope and safety checks run inside our Worker, and generated answer segments are not sent to a separate moderation model. AI Stylist screening through SeeAPI is described below.
  • AI Stylist SeeAPI Safety Screening: Photos uploaded to AI Stylist, prepared portraits used for its try-ons, and images generated for its previews are sent to SeeAPI for automated image screening. AI Stylist messages and the actual instructions used to generate its previews are sent to SeeAPI for text moderation before use. SeeAPI receives images through random, private download links valid for at most five minutes; we do not send your account details. Temporary screening copies are deleted after the check, and scheduled cleanup retries failed deletion. SeeAPI processes data under its own service terms. Screening can make mistakes and is separate from preview appearance quality.
  • Standalone Hairstyle and Makeup Previews: When you choose to render a hairstyle or makeup preview outside AI Stylist, the prepared portrait is sent to Cloudflare Workers AI for image generation. The generated preview is held in private Cloudflare R2 storage so an interrupted request can recover. Access expires within 24 hours and the image is scheduled for deletion; it is not added to your account gallery. You can download a result to keep it on your device.

5. Color Season Checker Chrome Extension

The Color Season Checker extension lets you sample a color you explicitly choose and compare it with your selected 12-season palette. Its extension data is handled as follows:

  • Selected Season: Your selected color season is stored in chrome.storage.sync. If Chrome Sync is enabled, Chrome may sync this preference across browsers signed in to your Chrome account. Color Season AI does not receive this preference.
  • Recent Color History: Up to 30 recent sampled hex color values and their match results, together with the associated timestamp and season context, are stored on your device in chrome.storage.local. Older entries are automatically replaced as new colors are saved.
  • Data We Do Not Collect: The extension does not read or save page URLs, page text, browsing history, screenshots, or personally identifiable information. It processes only the individual color you actively select with the browser's color picker.
  • Use and Sharing: Your selected season, sampled colors, and match results are used only to provide palette matching and recent-history features. They are not sent to Color Season AI, sold, used for advertising, or made available for human review.
  • Deletion: You can delete extension data by uninstalling the extension or by clearing its stored data through Chrome. Your selected season remains until you change it or clear the extension data; recent color history is limited to 30 entries.

Limited Use: Our use of information received from Chrome APIs complies with the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

6. Cookies

Our website uses cookies to enhance your experience. Types of cookies we use:

  • Essential Cookies: Required for basic site functionality (e.g., theme preference).
  • Analytics Cookies: Google Analytics cookies to measure site usage.
  • Advertising Cookies: Google AdSense cookies for personalized advertisements.

You can manage or disable cookies through your browser settings. Note that disabling cookies may affect site functionality.

7. Data Retention

Google Analytics data is retained according to Google's standard retention policies. Color-analysis photos are not kept as a photo library. Photos submitted while signed out are not retained. Photos from signed-in analyses are kept in your Style Profile under the rules in section 7b. We do keep a one-way SHA-256 digest of each analyzed photo alongside its result; it cannot be turned back into the photo, and it is used only so that uploading the same file again returns the same result instead of a second analysis. The separate AI Stylist retention rules are in section 7a. Redacted, account-unlinked assistant question text is retained for no more than 90 days. Assistant and photo-analysis security and usage events are retained for no more than 30 days. Purchase, refund, and delivery records are kept as long as reasonably needed to provide the handbook, meet accounting and legal obligations, prevent fraud, and resolve disputes.

7a. AI Stylist Chat, Photos and Previews

These rules apply when the separate, signed-in AI Stylist feature is enabled for your account. They do not change how the original color-analysis request or the Chrome extension handles data.

  • Conversations: With your agreement, chat messages and derived conversation context are stored in an account-scoped PostgreSQL database hosted by Neon. Saved conversations remain until you delete them. Temporary chats do not use or create your long-term preference memory; they still require temporary server processing and storage.
  • Preference memory: A suggested preference is only a candidate until you explicitly confirm it. You can review its source and delete individual entries or clear your preference profile. Deleting a preference prevents it from being reused for personalization; it does not itself erase the original conversation. Conversation deletion also removes its derived memory materials.
  • Photos you add to a conversation: Adding a photo with the "+" button is your instruction to process it for that conversation; there is no separate consent form. We record the version of these terms with each upload. You can detach the photo before sending, and delete it at any time from the conversation or from Stylist settings.
  • How your photo is handled:
    • Purpose limitation. A photo is used only to answer the request you make in that conversation, to render a hair or makeup preview on it when you turn Preview on, and to check the quality of that preview. It is not used for advertising, profiling, or to build a face database.
    • No model training. Your photos, previews and chat prompts are not used to train or fine-tune AI models, by us or by the providers we use.
    • On your device first. The photo is resized in your browser before upload, which strips camera metadata such as location. If a square portrait is prepared for try-ons, the face check that decides whether it is usable runs in your browser; the face landmarks it computes are used only to frame the crop and are not stored or sent as a biometric template. We do not perform face recognition or attempt to identify who is in a photo.
    • Where it goes. The full-frame photo and, when prepared, the 504 px portrait are held in private Cloudflare R2 storage under your account, never in a public gallery. New uploads and prepared portraits are also screened by SeeAPI as described in section 4. When the stylist reads the photo or renders a preview, it is sent to the AI model provider for that task (currently Cloudflare Workers AI) for the duration of processing only; the provider does not keep it beyond that request. Generated previews are stored privately in the same way.
    • Who can see it. Your signed-in account and the automated processors described above. We do not look at your photos, except when we must investigate abuse or a support request you raise, and never share them with advertisers or data brokers.
    • Automatic expiry. Uploaded photos, prepared portraits and previews you have not saved are scheduled for deletion within 24 hours (see Expiry below). A saved preview is kept until you delete it; saving it does not keep the original source photo.
    • Other people. Only upload photos of yourself, or of someone who has agreed to it. Do not upload photos of children under 13.
  • Expiry: Temporary conversations, uploaded source/reference images, draft plans and unsaved preview images are scheduled for deletion within 24 hours. Access is revoked at expiry even if a storage outage delays physical cleanup. Cleanup retries after failures. Explicitly saved plans and generated results remain until you delete them; saving a result does not retain its original source photo indefinitely.
  • Previews and credits: A preview can only be generated for a message on which you turned the Preview switch on; the switch resets after each message, and the charge for that message is shown before you send it. Task references and accounting receipts are retained separately to prevent duplicate execution or charging, restore reservations after confirmed failure, and reconcile uncertain outcomes. These receipts do not contain the original photo bytes or full chat prompts.
  • Access and logging: Requests are authorized using your signed-in account; another account cannot access your private conversation, photos or tasks. Agent content is not sold or supplied to advertising services. Our Agent diagnostics record bounded status, timing and request references, not raw photos, chat prompts or memory contents. We disable AI Gateway request/response payload collection for the Agent's language-model calls.
  • Deletion scope: Deletion removes or revokes the active application records and private objects. A saved plan or saved result is an independently authorized item and must be deleted separately. Database-provider recovery copies, if present, follow the provider's configured retention rather than instant per-record erasure; accounting records may be retained for the purposes stated in section 7.

7b. Style Profile Photos

These rules apply to photos from color analyses you run while signed in. They are separate from the AI Stylist rules in section 7a.

  • What is kept: A reduced-size copy (about 600 px on the long side) of each photo you analyze while signed in, linked to that analysis result. The original file and the analysis-size crop are not kept.
  • Purpose: To show the photo with its result, to compare candidate seasons or colors on your own face, and to let you review your analysis history. Photos are not used to train models and are not shared with advertisers or data brokers.
  • Where: Private Cloudflare R2 storage under your account; no public URL exists, and only your signed-in session can load it. We do not look at your photos except to investigate abuse or a support request you raise.
  • Retention: For as long as your account exists, or until you remove the photo. Each photo has a Remove control on its result page.
  • Deletion: Removing a photo, or deleting your account, marks it for deletion immediately and the stored object is erased within 30 days (normally within the hour). The one-way digest described in section 7 is kept with the result so that re-uploading the same file still returns the same reading.
  • Other people: Only upload photos of yourself, or of someone who has agreed to it. Do not upload photos of children under 13.

8. Your Rights

You have the right to:

9. EU/UK & California Advertising Choices

If you are located in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, we and our advertising partners (including Google) will request your consent before storing or accessing non-essential cookies and using personal data such as your IP address or device identifiers for personalized advertising. You may withdraw or change your consent at any time through the consent controls on this site, and you retain the GDPR rights described in Section 8 (access, deletion, objection, and restriction).

If you are a California resident, you have the right under the CCPA/CPRA to opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. You can limit ad personalization through Google Ads Settings and via the Digital Advertising Alliance opt-out.
