M-06 / ASH VEIL

Soft-Focus Mushroom

Soft-Focus Mushroom digital color direction shown on the deep sample modelDigital direction · not an outcome guarantee

A quiet taupe-brown that replaces obvious warmth with a soft, smoky cast.

Change
subtle
Upkeep
low
Tone
neutral-cool taupe

Makes an existing dark-blonde or light-brown base feel calmer without turning it flat charcoal.

Open formulation notes
Technique to discuss
demi gloss or fine low-contrast ribbons
Say this in the chair
Keep my natural depth visible and add a translucent mushroom-taupe reflect with no hard root line.
Lightening boundary
Usually deposit-only on a compatible light or medium base; dark bases may need selective lift for the taupe reflect to read.
Maintenance note
Refresh the smoky reflect when it warms up; use a gentle color-safe routine rather than chasing every hint of warmth.

N-03 / INK GLAZE

Cocoa Ink Glaze

Cocoa Ink Glaze digital color direction shown on the deep sample modelDigital direction · not an outcome guarantee

Near-black cocoa with a reflective brown edge instead of a dense, shoe-polish finish.

Change
subtle
Upkeep
low
Tone
deep neutral brunette

Deepens faded brunette hair while preserving enough brown reflection to show movement in daylight.

Open formulation notes
Technique to discuss
single-process gloss or root-to-end tonal refresh
Say this in the chair
I want espresso depth, but keep a cocoa reflection in the mids and ends so the result does not read as flat black.
Lightening boundary
This is a darkening direction. Previously lightened or porous ends can grab too dark, so ask for a strand check before full saturation.
Maintenance note
The grow-out is forgiving on naturally deep hair; refresh shine through glossing instead of repeatedly pulling permanent color through the ends.

BN-07 / LINEN

Linen Bronde Ribbons

Linen Bronde Ribbons digital color direction shown on the deep sample modelDigital direction · not an outcome guarantee

Beige ribbons woven through brunette so the color grows out like softened fabric, not stripes.

Change
noticeable
Upkeep
low
Tone
balanced beige-brown

Adds light-catching dimension while leaving enough natural depth to make regrowth part of the design.

Open formulation notes
Technique to discuss
diffused balayage with a softened root
Say this in the chair
Place fine beige-bronde ribbons through the mid-lengths, keep my root diffused, and avoid a bright solid face frame.
Lightening boundary
Dark or previously colored hair may need staged lightening to reach clean beige; the brief does not predict how many sessions.
Maintenance note
A tonal refresh can revive beige between lightening appointments; the intentionally soft root reduces urgent touch-ups.

WG-06 / CARAMEL

Sunlit Caramel Veil

Sunlit Caramel Veil digital color direction shown on the deep sample modelDigital direction · not an outcome guarantee

A warm translucent lift placed where daylight naturally lands: face, crown, and moving ends.

Change
noticeable
Upkeep
moderate
Tone
warm caramel-gold

Warms a brunette base without converting the whole head to blonde or erasing its natural contrast.

Open formulation notes
Technique to discuss
surface-painted highlights with a brunette shadow root
Say this in the chair
Keep my brunette base dominant and paint caramel light only on the surface and around the face, with soft transitions.
Lightening boundary
Caramel must be lifted cleanly enough to stay golden rather than orange. Existing dark dye can change the route and timing.
Maintenance note
Protect the warm gloss from hot-water fading and schedule tonal refreshes when the caramel loses clarity, not by a rigid calendar alone.

G-08 / OAT HONEY

Oat-Honey Blonde

Oat-Honey Blonde digital color direction shown on the deep sample modelDigital direction · not an outcome guarantee

Creamy gold tempered with beige, giving blonde warmth without a loud yellow finish.

Change
noticeable
Upkeep
moderate
Tone
soft warm blonde

Creates brightness that still has lowlights and depth, so waves and curls do not collapse into one pale block.

Open formulation notes
Technique to discuss
multi-tonal highlights plus beige-gold gloss
Say this in the chair
Build a creamy honey blonde with beige lowlights left in; I want warmth and movement, not one flat yellow level.
Lightening boundary
A light base may reach this gradually; a medium or artificially dark base can require more than one appointment to protect condition.
Maintenance note
Alternate moisture care with color-safe cleansing and refresh the beige-gold balance when it becomes either brassy or overly cool.

V-09 / MINERAL

Mineral Ash Blonde

Mineral Ash Blonde digital color direction shown on the deep sample modelDigital direction · not an outcome guarantee

Pale stone and cool beige layered together—clean, dimensional, and deliberately not silver.

Change
noticeable
Upkeep
high
Tone
cool beige-ash blonde

Takes excess yellow out of blonde while lowlights stop the result from becoming visually hollow.

Open formulation notes
Technique to discuss
controlled lift with dimensional lowlights and cool-neutral toner
Say this in the chair
Aim for cool mineral beige, keep a few deeper lowlights, and avoid pushing the toner to lavender or flat gray.
Lightening boundary
A clean pale canvas is normally needed for an ash-blonde result; lifting more than three shades increases damage risk and may need staging.
Maintenance note
Cool toner shifts with washing, heat, sun, and minerals. Plan for periodic toning and stop overusing purple products if the blonde turns dull.

C-07 / APRICOT

Burnished Apricot Copper

Burnished Apricot Copper digital color direction shown on the deep sample modelDigital direction · not an outcome guarantee

A copper core softened by apricot-gold, brighter than auburn but less neon than true orange.

Change
bold
Upkeep
high
Tone
warm copper-apricot

Gives warm, light-reflective red dimension while the golden edge keeps the copper from reading one-note.

Open formulation notes
Technique to discuss
full copper deposit with a lighter face halo
Say this in the chair
Mix a burnished copper with an apricot-gold edge, preserving root depth and a softly brighter frame around my face.
Lightening boundary
Light bases may take the copper by deposit; deeper or cool artificial color can require correction before a clear apricot result is possible.
Maintenance note
Copper loses intensity visibly. Use cooler water, color-safe care, and agree on a gloss plan before choosing the shade.

RC-05 / MULLED

Mulled Auburn Depth

Mulled Auburn Depth digital color direction shown on the deep sample modelDigital direction · not an outcome guarantee

Brown-led red with cinnamon warmth that appears richer in low light instead of flashing orange.

Change
noticeable
Upkeep
moderate
Tone
deep red-brown

Lets brunettes enter the red family while retaining familiar depth and a softer root transition.

Open formulation notes
Technique to discuss
brunette base color with auburn tonal layering
Say this in the chair
Keep this brown-first and layer in auburn-cinnamon reflect; I do not want bright copper or a violet burgundy finish.
Lightening boundary
Often achievable through deposit on medium brunette hair; very dark bases may show the red mainly in direct light unless selectively lifted.
Maintenance note
Auburn warmth fades faster than brown depth. Refresh tone without repeatedly darkening porous lengths.

RV-04 / CHERRY

Black-Cherry Lacquer

Black-Cherry Lacquer digital color direction shown on the deep sample modelDigital direction · not an outcome guarantee

A dark brunette shell with wine-red reflection that reveals itself when the hair moves through light.

Change
bold
Upkeep
high
Tone
cool wine-red brunette

Reads sophisticated and near-dark indoors, then shows saturated cherry-wine around curves and ends.

Open formulation notes
Technique to discuss
deep red-violet glaze over dimensional brunette
Say this in the chair
Build a brunette-black base with a cool black-cherry reflect; keep it dimensional and avoid a uniform purple cast.
Lightening boundary
It can be deposit-led on dark hair, but previous black dye and uneven porosity may make the reflection patchy without correction.
Maintenance note
Red-violet pigment can stain, transfer, and fade. Confirm a home-care plan and how you would remove or change it later.

RV-09 / QUARTZ

Rose-Quartz Smoke

Rose-Quartz Smoke digital color direction shown on the deep sample modelDigital direction · not an outcome guarantee

Dusty rose suspended in pale beige, designed to look powdery rather than candy-bright.

Change
bold
Upkeep
high
Tone
muted rose-beige

Offers a fantasy shift that still feels soft because saturation stays low and the beige base remains visible.

Open formulation notes
Technique to discuss
pre-lightened canvas with sheer rose and neutral-beige toning
Say this in the chair
Use a sheer dusty-rose veil over beige, keep the root diffused, and leave enough neutral tone that it never reads neon pink.
Lightening boundary
The powdery rose is clearest on very light hair. Dark hair generally needs substantial pre-lightening, which may not be appropriate in one session.
Maintenance note
Pastel pigment leaves quickly and the pale canvas remains. Decide whether frequent refreshes or a graceful fade is the goal before committing.

BV-02 / MIDNIGHT

Midnight Indigo Gloss

Midnight Indigo Gloss digital color direction shown on the deep sample modelDigital direction · not an outcome guarantee

Blackened navy that reads dark at rest and throws a blue-violet reflection under cool light.

Change
bold
Upkeep
moderate
Tone
blue-black indigo

Turns a familiar deep base into a directional color without relying on bright, pre-lightened blue lengths.

Open formulation notes
Technique to discuss
cool-black base with translucent indigo glaze
Say this in the chair
Keep the overall level near black, then add an indigo reflect that appears in motion rather than solid electric blue.
Lightening boundary
Usually a deposit direction on dark hair. Light or porous sections can take blue much more strongly and need separate formulation.
Maintenance note
Use dark towels at first, minimize very hot washing, and discuss how blue pigment may affect a future warm or lighter color plan.

SV-08 / PEWTER

Pewter Transition Blend

Pewter Transition Blend digital color direction shown on the deep sample modelDigital direction · not an outcome guarantee

Existing silver is connected to deeper roots with smoky lowlights instead of being covered as a defect.

Change
subtle
Upkeep
low
Tone
neutral-cool silver blend

Turns a visible grow-out boundary into deliberate depth while keeping natural silver as part of the final palette.

Open formulation notes
Technique to discuss
gray blending with scattered lowlights and a sheer gloss
Say this in the chair
Preserve my natural silver and weave in soft pewter lowlights to connect it to the darker areas; no opaque all-over cover.
Lightening boundary
The goal is blending, not forcing every strand to silver. Previously dyed dark lengths may need a gradual correction plan.
Maintenance note
Because new silver joins the design, regrowth is softer. Use clarifying or violet care only when needed so the pewter does not become dry or purple.

Read before lightening

A beautiful reference can still be the wrong appointment.

Most hair color ideas are photographs of a destination under one set of lighting conditions. They cannot show what is already inside your hair: old permanent color, bands from previous root applications, mineral buildup, porosity, or fragile lightened ends. Those facts decide whether a direction is deposit-only, needs selective lift, or should wait.

The American Academy of Dermatology recommends staying within three shades of natural color when possible and notes that lightening beyond that generally needs higher peroxide volumes and causes more damage. That is a useful boundary, not a promise that every three-shade move is appropriate for every head of hair.

VARIABLE A / HISTORY

Say what has been used before.

Permanent black, henna, highlights, relaxers, and repeated root dye all change what can be achieved safely and evenly.

VARIABLE B / CONDITION

Let elasticity outrank urgency.

If wet hair stretches, snaps, or feels gummy, a deadline is not a reason to add another aggressive lightening session.

VARIABLE C / SENSITIVITY

Follow the test instructions.

Patch and strand tests answer different questions. Follow the manufacturer’s allergy-alert directions every time and stop if a reaction occurs.

From reference to wearable color

The four-part consultation

A useful salon brief does not dictate chemistry. It makes your priorities visible so a qualified colorist can translate your saved hair color ideas into placement, products, timing, and an honest number of sessions.

01 / AUDIT

Map the current canvas

Bring your color history. Examine roots, mids, ends, gray pattern, porosity, and any areas that behave differently.

02 / ALIGN

Name the non-negotiable

Is the priority softness at the root, more brightness near the face, a cool reflect, or truly low maintenance? Pick one first.

03 / TEST

Check the proposed route

Use manufacturer-required allergy testing and, when appropriate, a strand test to reveal lift, tone, and structural tolerance.

04 / MAINTAIN

Price the future, not just today

Agree on home care, fade behavior, root visibility, tonal refreshes, and what happens if you later want to change direction.

Reference desk / FAQ

Questions to settle before the cape goes on

How do I narrow down hair color ideas without following a trend blindly?

Begin with the color already on your hair, including old permanent dye, then decide how visible a change you want and how often you will realistically maintain it. Those three constraints eliminate more unsuitable options than a list based only on trend names or celebrity photos.

Do the preview images show exactly how a shade will turn out on me?

No. They are digital visual references shown on two existing sample models, not predictions or dye formulas. Previous color, starting level, porosity, condition, lighting, and the chosen technique all change a real result. Use a saved image to communicate direction, then let a colorist assess the hair in person.

Can dark brown hair become blonde in one appointment?

Sometimes a meaningful amount of lift is possible, but a clean blonde may require staged appointments—especially on previously colored or fragile hair. The American Academy of Dermatology notes that lightening more than three shades requires higher peroxide volumes and causes more damage. Condition should set the pace, not a deadline.

Which hair color ideas have the easiest grow-out?

Directions that preserve the natural root—diffused bronde, surface caramel, subtle brunette glosses, and gray blending—usually create a softer line as hair grows. Pale blondes, bright coppers, pastels, and opaque gray coverage generally make fading or regrowth more visible and need a more active maintenance plan.

Which hair color ideas work with gray hair?

Two of the twelve directions are designed around it: pewter transition blending, which weaves the incoming silver into an intentional design, and mushroom or cool-brown glosses that soften the contrast between gray and pigmented strands. Filter the archive by a gray starting base to see only the ideas that treat silver as a feature rather than something to hide every four weeks.

Should I patch-test hair dye even if I have used the brand before?

Follow the product instructions every time. The U.S. FDA advises a patch test before each use, along with following all cautions, wearing gloves, rinsing the scalp well, and never mixing different dye products. Do not continue if a test or application causes a reaction.

Is the salon brief a professional color formula?

No. It deliberately contains no developer strength, mixing ratio, or processing time. It records the visual target, acceptable change, maintenance preference, and lightening boundary so you and a qualified colorist can agree on a realistic plan after reviewing your color history and hair condition.
